It’s a home fight tonight for Lamont Peterson, but Jesus “Pollo” Hernandez [that’s Jesus Chicken for those of you curious about the translation] and Roman Morales (right) both made the trek to the D.C. Armory from California to feature in the co-main event, and first televised fight of the night on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights.

Both brought the coveted “0” in the loss column with them, but Morales easily protected his. Morales picked apart his opponent with combinations, before a left hook to the body in the 5th that left Hernandez cashed out.

Morales decisively controlled each round, switching from orthodox to southpaw and back, rarely getting touched, and winning two-for-one trades (or better) off Hernandez, who cautiously moved inside only to throw single punches with mixed results. A two-punch combination to the head put Hernandez down in the fourth, but it was Morales’ body shot in the fifth that broke that pattern and Jesus Chicken’s spirit for the night.
