6'4" junior welterweight Mykal “The Professor” Fox (14–0, 4 KOs) of Forestville, Md. gave another lesson in the sweet science as he cruised to an eight-round unanimous decision win over Daniel Sostre (13–13–1, 5 KOs) of Puerto Rico. The bout served as the main event of the King’s Promotions card at Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, Md. on Saturday night.

Fox, a southpaw, took full of advantage of his massive advantages in height and reach to stay on the outside and outbox Sostre. Fox used an educated jab and smart footwork to stay off the ropes for much of the fight, keeping Sostre from having a chance to do some damage. Occasionally Fox would mix it up on the inside and land combinations, but he was also on the end of a few hard right hands from Sostre during exchanges in close quarters. Fox scored a flash knockdown in the last round to punctuate the evening. Fox won by scores of 80–71 and 79–72 (x2) to remain undefeated.

In the co-feature bout, junior welterweight Tyrek “I.G.B.” Irby (3–0, 1 KO) of Forestville, Md. won an easy six-round unanimous decision over a durable Brandon Sanudo (5–5, 2 KOs) of Mexico. Irby did an excellent job stalking Sanudo; cutting off the ring and trapping him along the ropes and in the corners where he did most of his damage. Irby was never able to drop Sanudo, but punished his opponent enough with powerful left hands that he won every round on all three judges’ scorecards by scores of 60–54 (x2) and 60–52.

Junior welterweight Greg “The Sharpshooter” Outlaw (3–0, 1 KO) of Bowie, Md. earned himself the first knockout win of his career, stopping Mario Perez (1–2) of Mexico in the last round of their scheduled four-round contest. Outlaw used his big advantages in height and reach to land sharp jabs and thudding straight left hands behind it to score knockdowns in the second and fourth rounds. After Perez went down the second time, he decided he had enough and told referee Dave Braslow he did not want to continue, and the fight was stopped at the 1:32 mark of the fourth round.

Junior middleweight “Slick” Justin Hurd (3–0, 2 KOs) of Accokeek, Md. scored a third-round technical knockout win over Alberto Delgado (0–2–1) of Roanoke, Va. Hurd put on a boxing clinic, living up to his nickname by showcasing slick footwork and head movement. He used a stiff jab to set the pace of the fight and landed punishing combinations to the head and body of Delgado until referee Kenny Chevalier mercifully stopped the fight at 1:23 of the third round.

Making his pro debut, junior lightweight Malik “Lil Leak” Loften (1–0, 1 KO) of Suitland, Md. scored a forth-round stoppage over a very game Jemour Edwards (0–2) of Orlando, Fl. Loften and Edwards slugged it out for the duration of the fight, each fighter getting buzzed. Edwards gas tank started emptying in the third round and Loften landed numerous flush right hands over the top of Edwards’ Philly-shell defense, a precursor to the ending that was near. Referee Brent Bovell jumped in and waved the fight off at the 2:31 mark of the last round as Loften was rocking Edwards with hard rights hands that were landing at will.

In a very entertaining opening bout, junior lightweight Jordan “The Kidd” Peters (2–0–1, 2 KOs) of Washington, D.C. stopped Bryan Perez-Nevarez (2–7–1, 1 KO) of Puerto Rico at the end of the second round. Perez-Nevarez dropped Peters with a perfectly-timed counter right hook in the first. Peters returned the favor and sent Perez-Nevarez to the canvas with a hard straight right hand down the middle early in the second. Peters battered Perez-Nevarez the rest of the round including scoring a second knockdown. The ringside doctor stopped the fight in between the second and third rounds, deeming Perez-Nevarez had taken too much punishment and was unfit to continue.
