2008 U.S. Olympian Demetrius Andrade (right) cruised to a third-round KO win against Saul Duran Wednesday night in Manchester, N.H. as part of the Fight to Educate charity card. Duran did not answer the bell for the fourth after being pummeled for the first three rounds.

According to our friend Bob Trieger, Duran showed up to the weigh-in for the 154-lb bout 2.5 pounds overweight and started eating a Snickers bar before being forced to lose the added weight, angering Andrade and adding to his aggression.

“The plan was to use my jab. He had a soft stomach and didn’t look like he was in great shape,“ Andrade said after the fight. “As long as I use my speed, everything is easy. He’s a tough fighter who took some good blows.”

Andrade passed a test against gatekeeper Grady Brewer last month and said he plans to stay busy by taking another fight this year. Hopefully his handlers decide to accelerate his development a little bit by finding him a live foe for the next fight.

In other action 1992 Olympic bronze medalist Anibel Acevedo failed to answer the bell for round three against New Hampshire middleweight Jose “Stinger” Medina and 2008 U.S. Olympic alternate Danny O’Connor came back from his first pro loss to stop Mexico’s Jamal Del Cid in the first with the help of new trainer Ronnie Shields. New Hampshire featherweight Dan Powers (4–0, 2 KOs) won a four-round decision over Luis Rosario and Vermont welterweight Chris Gilbert (2–0, 2 KOs) stopped Noel Garcia with a right uppercut in the opening stanza.
