Arlington’s Bayan Jargal(right) showed tremendous heart and a granite chin but was thoroughly outclassed by Colombian junior welterweight contender Breidis Prescott (left)at Mohegan Sun on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights.

We had high hopes for the NoVa-based Mongolian native but he was out of his depth against Prescott (24–2, 19 KOs) and did well to last ten rounds. Jargal (15–2–3, 10 KOs) simply didn’t have enough offense to make it a fight and appears more suited to regional opposition.

Prescott will most likely continue to press for a rematch with WBA titlist Amir Khan, whom he memorably dispatched in the first round in 2008. He has since dropped two decisions to solid opponents but has yet to be knocked down in 26 professional fights and always remains a threat for the early stoppage.

On the undercard former U.S. Olympian Demetrius Andrade scored a 2nd-round KO after Omar Bell refused to get up from a vicious left. The quick stoppage forced viewers to sit through the disgraceful pairing of fight publicist Kevin Rooney Jr. (son of the trainer and former contender) making his professional debut against some poor sap whose name we needn’t mention.

My dog has more dignity when she’s expressing her anal glands than whoever was responsible for this fight.
